The greater provision there is for alternatives the less reliance we will have on automobiles to travel -- and trucks for transport of goods.  Travel by foot, bicycle, train, bus and boat are sound alternatives for the transport of both people and goods.  Enhancing the economic viability and convenience of these alternatives is essential in order to keep our economy healthy -- and our quality of life intact.
