Advocates for Calm Traffic
Norwalk, Connecticut
Mixed-use development will provide a balanced sharing of residential and retail needs.
Providing sufficient low-income housing will minimize the need for local workers to live
outside Norwalk and drive by car to work. Smart growth will incorporate alternative
transportation as an integral component. Providing pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes,
train stations and additional bus routes and lines will decrease the need for travel by
automobile. Enhancing the character of the setting by preserving the historic structures,
trees and pedestrian access to the waterfront will also calm traffic.
